New Horizons: C3 Opens Office in Puerto Rico

Did you hear the news? We are delighted to announce the opening of a C3 office in San Juan, Puerto Rico — our fifth office.

Puerto Rico has been on our minds as a growth area for some time now. We hired our first San Juan-based employee — Reynaldo, Director of Voice Services — back in 2018. Less than a 3-hour flight away, it’s about as fast to get from our headquarters to San Juan as it is to get to New York City.

Still, you might be wondering…

Why Puerto Rico?

Two trends have particularly drawn our attention to Puerto Rico.

Firstly, its growing, diversifying economy is creating new demand for wide-ranging technology services, including highly regulated industries we know well like financial services and healthcare. Secondly, this rise in demand has coincided with the withdrawal in recent years of major telecom carriers like AT&T Telefonica from the market — a boon to smaller voice providers like us who can compete with the largest players on price and features while surpassing them on service.

Combine these trends together, and we believe there is a unique opportunity for a nimble technology and communications consultancy with a white-glove touch. We confirmed this when we began rolling out voice services to the island last year, striking a note with customers hungry for “the C3 difference” and gaining business by word of mouth.

But there’s much more to Puerto Rico than simply timing….

Why Puerto Rico Is Such An Exciting Market

Being just slightly off the map (literally), Puerto Rico is easily overlooked by mainland-based businesses — to the detriment of all.

Some numbers are helpful here: Puerto Rico is the largest economy by GDP in the entire Caribbean ($113 billion), with a third of GDP coming from finance, insurance, real estate, and professional services. Additionally, as a US Jurisdiction, Puerto Rico is highly unique within Latin America: it uses the US Dollar, is subject to Federal Law (including the FDA, FDIC, IRS, and beyond), and essentially confers the same operational security, stability, and protections we enjoy here in Florida.

Puerto Rico Is The Future

In short, there is simply no other place like it.

For all these reasons, we consider Puerto Rico to be a hidden gem, a rising star, and a community in which we are excited to deepen our roots. And by the way, did we mention it is absolutely beautiful?
